Graduation Pictures

Gigglebugs will be here Wednesday,April 28th to take graduation pictures of our class in their caps and gowns. A white collared shirt looks the best under the gown.

We will head to chapel on Tuesday,April 13th. Please send an offering with your child.

Graduation Ceremony

Please remember that the pictures for the graduation DVD are due on April 1st. Graduation cap and gown money and name on dilploma forms are due April 8th.

No More Show n Tell

As our year comes to an end, we seem to be getting busier and busier. We have decided to cancel show n tell for the remainder of the year. It is our hope that this will be one less thing for you the parent to remember.

Book Orders Due

Book orders are due this Thursday, March 25th.

School Holiday

We will also be closed on April 15th due to Katyisd early dismissal. With the majority of our staff having school aged children there is no way to staff the school. Please contact the office if you have any questions. Thanks!

School Holiday

Please make a note that we will be closed on Monday, April the 5th. This IS NOT a Katyisd holiday,however Second Baptist will close all campuses for staff to observe Easter holiday.

100 Day

Have you heard about our 100 day celebration? All year long we have tried to help the children understand how much 100 is in a variety of ways. Our special 100th Day will be on Thursday,April 1st. We will spend the entire day talking about the number 100 and counting to 100 in a variety of ways.

We have a few friends left that are very close to getting into the 100 club. Please work with your child so that we have everyone in the club by our celebration.

Please send a collection of 100 non valuable objects in a sandwich size Ziploc bag. Please make sure it is labeled with your child's name. Collections might consist of toothpicks,pennies,stickers,buttons,etc. Allow your child to practice counting with the collection items by sorting them into groups of ten,counting and then placing into the baggie.

We will be making a special snack and lunch for this day. We only need a few things donated for this day, please watch for more on this.

Easter Party

We will be celebrating our Easter party on Wednesday March 31st. Please send 12 filled eggs to school in your child's Easter basket by Monday,March the 29th. We will have a special snack that day donated by a parent. There will not be a special lunch.

Spring Break/Easter

Next week will be our last week of school before Spring Break. We will be out of school March 15-19th. We will return on March 22. We will celebrate our Easter party on April 1st. We will have a special lunch and an Easter Egg Hunt. Your child will need to bring 12 filled eggs with special treats.(No chocolate please) Please being your eggs and basket by March 29th. We will not have parents at this party.

Easter Holiday-April 5th will be a holiday for Hid Kids Preschool.The enitre campus of Second baptist will be closed.

Class Mail

The children enjoyed getting mail from home last week. Keep the letters coming and encourage them to write their friends at home and bring it back to school.

Next week is Western Week

Next week we will take a look into Texas history. Wednesday we will have a special lunch and snack. Please see the sign up sheet for items to bring for lunch. For snack/cooking class we will be making trail mix. It will be made up of EBOT...."everybody bring one thing".Please bring a sandwich size ziploc bag with your favorite ingredient for trail mix (M&M's,pretzels,nuts,dried fruit,crackers,etc).We will mix everyones snack together for trailmix. Please bring to school by Tuesday,March 2nd.

Your child came home with a cowboy boot today. Please decorate and return to school Monday the 1st.

Class Mail

The kids enjoyed writing letters so much these past two weeks that we have created a mailbox just for our class. The class will be encouraged to write their friends and we will check the mailbox each Thursday. Please feel free to send letters to your child.You may do this by sending a letter in an envelope per their folder which we will stick in the mailbox. This is a great writing and reading activity. They may also write letters at home and bring to school to put in the mailbox.

Library Books

Remember library books are due each Monday. We will not be able to let your child check out a book if they haven't returned it. Sorry!!!!!

Presidents Day

In observance of Presidents we will not be in school on Monday,February the 15th.

Treasure Box

We are in need of more treasures as your children are visiting the treasure box quite often. They are all such great kids!!!!!!

Dental Week

We will have a dental hygenist come and speak with the class this week and will talk in depth about it the following week after our study of the Olympics.

Red,White and Blue

Wear red,white and blue all next week as we talk about the Olympics next week. We will be joining together with the transition class for a week filled of Olympic sports and games. The kids are going to try their hand at skating, skiing and other sports with the help of their creative teachers and the Wii. Your kiddos are going to have a blast. We will start off with a small parade around the school with our torches. See you on Tuesday.

Morning Work

In the morning time your child is now coming in and doing seat work. This is something that they will be doing in kindergarten and we are trying very hard to prepare them for this big step. PLEASE try to have your child at school no later than 9:05. Their seat work should only take about 10 minutes. We begin our pledges and expectations for the day around 9:15-9:20. It is hard for your child to start their morning when they come in late. Thanks for your help with this. They have done a WONDERFUL job transitioning into this new routine.

Valentines

We will have a small party on February 11, 2010. We will pass out Valentines in the morning and have a special lunch. We ask that your child bring 15 Valentines to hand out to friends.You may have your child sign each card but please do not address the cards as it makes it difficult to pass them out for the children. We will have a special lunch but this will not be a party for the parents. Sorry!!!! Please watch for a sign up sheet.

We will be decorating these in class and using them for mailboxes in dramatic play and for our Valentine exchange. We are also needing stationary and envelopes as we will be focusing on writing letters and mailing them to their friends next month. Thanks.

A Great Week

Well, we all survived the first week back from the holidays. Your children were "AMAZING"!! It was as if they had never left. They settled in quickly and are proving that they are ready to head to kindergarten. We are so proud of each of them.

Winter Items

We are looking for winter coats (child or adult) hats,gloves,scarves and mittens for our home center. We have a beautiful fireplace mural waiting for the kiddos when they return.

Reading Logs

In place of reading logs we will be sending home two readers each Monday. Please help your child read these books and return them on Thursday for a trip to the treasure box. Encourage your child to use their "pointer" finger when reading the words in the book. They will need to read the book out loud to earn a trip to the treasure box.
